From the American Bar Association's Commission on Women in the Profession, this publication details how law firms can implement and conduct an evaluation program without the gender bias that often influences performance reviews. Joan Williams (law, U. of California, Hastings) and Consuela Pinto, an employment attorney, prepared much of the material, in collaboration with members of the ABA Section of Labor and Employment Law. They also discuss the psychological literature on stereotyping, and how unbiased evaluations will lead to higher productivity, lower attrition costs, greater client satisfaction, and increased profits. This edition has been updated to incorporate new research on gender bias. The CD-ROM contains appendices, instructions for supervising attorneys on completing performance evaluations, and evaluation training materials. No index is provided.
