Plinio Martini (1923–1979) è sempre vissuto a Cavergno (Valle Maggia, Svizzera), dove è stato maestro di scuola elementare. Ha esordito come poeta con «Paese così» (1951) e «Diario forse d’amore» (1953). Ha scritto numerosi racconti e articoli in difesa del patrimonio storico e civile dei suoi luoghi, poi raccolti nei volumi postumi «Delle streghe e d’altro» (1979) e «Nessuno ha pregato per noi» (1999). Le opere di maggiore successo sono i due romanzi «Il fondo del sacco» (1970) e «Requiem per zia Domenica» (1976).
