Biografia dell'autore
Gustave Flaubert nasce a Rouen nel 1821. Figlio di un chirurgo, studia legge a Parigi, ma abbandona presto gli studi a causa di problemi di salute per dedicarsi totalmente alla letteratura. La sua vita trascorre prevalentemente nella tenuta di Croisset, dove si dedica con ossessiva dedizione alla scrittura. Autore di capolavori che hanno ridefinito il romanzo moderno, è celebre per il suo ideale del mot juste. Non riceve riconoscimenti ufficiali in vita, ma la sua influenza sulla narrativa occidentale è immensa. Si spegne nel 1880 a Croisset.
Stile di scrittura
