I tre scritti che compongono Per una enciclopedia mondiale furono pubblicati originariamente su riviste o pensati in occasione di conferenze, e poi confluirono nella raccolta World Brain (1938).

He is now best remembered for his science fiction novels, and Wells is called the father of science fiction, along with Jules Verne and Hugo Gernsback.
