Jens Peter Jacobsen (1847-1885) è annoverato tra i massimi scrittori della letteratura danese. Nato a Thisted nello Jutland settentrionale, si trasferì a Copenaghen, dove studiò filosofia e botanica. I suoi scritti esercitarono un fascino enorme su autori come Stefan George, Rainer Maria Rilke, Sigmund Freud, Thomas Mann, James Joyce.
