Alice's Adventures in Wonderland - A Fantasy Tale for Children. E-book. Formato PDF Lewis Carroll - Abela Publishing, 2019 -
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (commonly shortened to “Alice in Wonderland”) is an 1865 novel written by English author Charles Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll. Dodgson transposed his mother’s maiden name for a first name and then used the French equivalent of his first name, Carroll, as a last name. Indeed, this edition, illustrated by Arthur Rackham, is considered to be the definitive edition of the story influencing the look and feel of “Alice” films and stage plays alike, and it is this edition that so many think of and refer to when discussing this wonderful story. Herein are the original 12 chapters richly illustrated with 13 full-page colour plates and 13 black and white pen and ink drawings. In addition, each chapter commences with an illuminated drop capital making for a wonderfully sumptuous edition. The story tells of a young girl named Alice falling through a rabbit hole into a world of fantasy populated by peculiar, anthropomorphic creatures. The tale plays with logic, which has given the story a lasting popularity with adults and children alike. It is considered to be one of the best examples in the literary nonsense genre. Its narrative course, structure, characters, and imagery have been enormously influential in both popular culture and literature, especially in the fantasy genre. The twelve chapters are: I. DOWN THE RABBIT-HOLE II. THE POOL OF TEARS III. A CAUCUS-RACE AND A LONG TALE IV. THE RABBIT SENDS IN A LITTLE BILL V. ADVICE FROM A CATERPILLAR VI. PIG AND PEPPER VII. A MAD TEA-PARTY VIII. THE QUEEN'S CROQUET-GROUND IX. THE MOCK TURTLE'S STORY X. THE LOBSTER QUADRILLE XI. WHO STOLE THE TARTS? XII. ALICE'S EVIDENCE ================ HISTORICAL NOTE In the 150+ years since Lewis Carroll first told the story of Wonderland to the real-life Alice, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland has attracted a number of stunning visual interpretations ranging from Salvador Dalí to Yayoi Kusama, but none more influential than those Arthur Rackham (September 19, 1867–September 6, 1939) created in 1907. Indeed, the Rackham edition is considered to be the definitive edition of the story influencing the look and feel of “Alice” films and stage plays alike, and it is this edition that so many think of and refer to when discussing this wonderful story. ============== KEYWORDS/TAGS: Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, folklore, fairy tales, myths and legends, fantasy, anthropomorphic, animals, , Alice, angry, Ann, anxious, appear, asleep, baby, Beau—ootiful, Beautiful, Bill, book, read-and-butter, breath, Caterpillar, cats, Cheshire Cat, children, children’s story, children’s books, chimney, creatures, croquet, curiosity, dance, dead, Dinah, Dodo, Dormouse, dream, Duchess, English, evidence, executioner, faces, fancy, fetch, finger, First, flamingo, Footman, game, garden, gloves, golden, Gryphon, guinea-pigs, Hare, Queen of Hearts, hedgehog, hookah pipe, hurry, jury, King, Knave, Lizard, lobsters, Lory, Mad Hatter, Majesty, March, Mary, melancholy, Mock Turtle, moral, Mouse, opportunity, pardon, party, Pigeon, players, pocket, puppy, puzzle, Queen, queer, strange, school, serpent, shriek, Soo—oop, Soup, stupid, twinkle, William, wonder land, youth, parents with children, parents to be, mothers to be, mothers with children, fables, bedtime stories, classic illustrations, fantasy art, fantastic, sumptuous, opulent, art,
SYLVIE and BRUNO - A Children's Fantasy Tale. E-book. Formato PDF Lewis Carroll - Abela Publishing, 2019 -
Sylvie and Bruno was first published in 1889 by Lewis Carroll and illustrated by Harry Furniss, same who also illustrated an edition of “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”. This edition has 46 pen and ink illustrations. Lady Sylvie is a young Sprite at the beginning of the novel, and later a true Fairy. Sylvie is the princess of Fairyland, daughter of the Warden, and sister of Bruno. While exhibiting very innocent traits, she seems far more mature than her younger brother, and often becomes exasperated with his illogical statements – just as with most brothers and sisters. Just as with “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” expect all the elements of fantasy and fantasmagorical beings and creatures for this adventure in fairyland. The novel has two main plots: one set in the real world, reflecting the time in which the book was published (the Victorian era), the other in the fantasy world of Fairyland. While the latter plot is a fairy tale with many nonsense elements and poems, similar to Carroll's Alice books, the story set in Victorian Britain is a social novel, with its characters discussing various concepts and aspects of religion, society, and morality. ============ KEYWORDS/TAGS: Sylvie and Bruno, Lewis Carroll, folklore, fairy tales, myths and legends, children’s stories, bedtime stories, parents with children, parents with babies, mothers with children, fathers with children, grandparents, fables, moral tale, Bruno, Lady Sylvie, Professor, Arthur, Muriel, children, words, Vice-Warden, Earl, Chancellor, Warden, Uggug, Gardener, flowers, whisper, Baron, Frogs, music, King, Queen, beautiful, animals, arrow, Arthur, Baby, Banquet, Beggar, Bible, Birthday-Treat, blackberries, blotting-paper, Boots, bouquet, breakfast, saloon, buns, candid, Captain, chain, cheeks, cigar, company, conspiracy, creature, crickets, croaking, Crocodile, dagger, dignity, dindledums, Doctor, Doggee, Dogland, Doos, dream, Eastward, eerie, Elveston, Emperor, escort, faces, Fairyland, faithful, fifteen, Forester, Free-Will, happily, Ghost, gloomy, golden, farewells, Hamlet, hare-bells, Head-Growler, head-over-heels, hearts, Highness, jamp, jolly, journey, key, kiss, Lecture, Lindon, Lion, Locket, London, , Macbeth, Magic, Majesty, market-place, Mouse, Muriel, Newfoundland, nuffin, nursemaid, Outland, passionate, Paul, peasant, Peter, Phlizz, pleasure, plunge-bath, Poem, Prince, Princess, puzzle, race, red, rosy, Royal, Sabbath-Day, savage, Science, Shakespeare, sharp, Sonata, Song, swallow, TING, triumphant, waiters, welly, give it some welly, West, wicked, wild, wizout, y’reince
THE NURSERY ALICE - A Children's Edition of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. E-book. Formato PDF Lewis Carroll - Abela Publishing, 2019 -
The Nursery "Alice" is a shortened version of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland created by Lewis Carroll in 1889/90 especially for children aged “0 to 5”. This edition was created twenty-five years after the original full-length work was published. Adapted by the author himself for children this is in effect an easy-to-read edition for preschool children. It includes 20 of John Tenniel's illustrations from the original book, redrawn, enlarged, coloured – and, in some cases, revised – by Tenniel himself The work is not merely a shortened and simplified version, along the lines of “Alice's Adventures in Wonderland” retold in words of one syllable. It is written as though the story is being read aloud by someone who is also talking to the child/listener, with many interpolations by the author, pointing out details in the pictures and asking questions, such as "Which would you have liked the best, do you think, to be a little tiny Alice, no larger than a kitten, or a great tall Alice, with your head always knocking against the ceiling?" There are also additions, such as an anecdote about a puppy called Dash, and an explanation of the word "foxglove". ============== KEYWORDS/TAGS: Alice in Wonderland, adventures, white rabbit, mad hatter, tea party, queen of hearts, knave of hearts, dream, fantasy, unreal, nursery Alice, mothers with children, parents with children, fathers with children, grandparents, accident, accused, afraid, alone, amusement, angel-hands, angry, animal, Ann, archers, arm-chair, asleep, babies, Baby, balls, Bantam-Cock, beautiful, Bill, birthday, present, birthday treat, Bliss, bread and butter, breast, buns, calf’s head, Caterpillar, cathedral, Caucus Race, Cheshire Cat, Child, children, chimney, Christmas tide, Churchpocket, corners, Croquet, crokay, dance, Dash, deedy, Dodo, dogs eared, doll, Dormouse, Duchess, Duck, Eaglet, Easter, Fairies, folklore, myth and legend, Ferret, fire place, Flamingo, Folk’s Gloves, fountain, Foxes, Fox Glove, foxglove, gay, glee, glitter, glorious, God, good-bye, goodbye, grand, Grew, grey headed, grinning, Gryphon, Hare, Hatter, Heaven, Hedgehog, hedge-hog, Hippopotamus, hookah, Judge, Jury, King, kiss, Knave, Jack of Hearts, laughter, Lizard, Lobster-Quadrille, Lory, Love, Mad, magic, March, Mary, Mists, mouse hole, naked, Nursery, oatmeal porridge, Pig baby, pocket, handkerchief, poem, prisoner, Puppy, Queen, Prince, Rabbit, rabbit hole, racecourse, robber, roses, rose tree, rumpled, saucer, serpent, shillings, Shower, Song, Squirrel, Storkling, Sun, sweet, swimming, tarts, Tea, teacups, thimble, toy cupboard, ugly, undraw, vain, vanity, vanish, waggon, waistcoat, White rabbit, wicked, Wonderland, wooden, wriggle, young, fables, bedtime stories, children’s stories,
