Limbo. E-book. Formato EPUB Aldous Huxley   -  Ktoczyta.Pl, 2019  -

Since its publication in 1920, Aldous Huxley’s „Limbo” has delighted readers with the ironic observations that would become a trademark of Huxley’s later work. Huxley’s first collection of short stories, contains seven visionary and satirical tales, which introduces themes that will go on to form the basis of his entire works. It includes: „Farcical History of Richard Greenow”, „Happily Ever After”, „Eupompus Gave Splendour to Art by Numbers”, „Happy Families” (play), „Cynthia”, „The Bookshop” and „The Death of Lully”. The events and the protagonists of these stories, with their personalities falling between the explicit and the elusive, are also rich in parallels and points in common with the life of their author. In „The Death of Lully” a woman is struck by breast cancer, the disease that killed the young author’s mother to whom he was very close; and suicide as that of his brother, recurs in „Eupompus Gave Splendour To Art By Numbers”.

Mortal Coils. E-book. Formato EPUB Aldous Huxley   -  Ktoczyta.Pl, 2019  -

Today, British author and essayist Aldous Huxley (1894-1963) who was one of the most famous English writers and philosophers in the twentieth century, is best remembered for the bleak dystopian vision he set forth in the classic novel „Brave New World”. Huxley was considered to be one of the great intellectuals of his time and he was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature in seven different years. In the engaging short pieces collected in „Mortal Coils”, Huxley spreads his creative wings, dabbling in murder mysteries, romance, and satire. It includes the following stories: „The Gioconda Smile”, „Permutations Among the Nightingales”, „The Tillotson Banquet Green”, „Tunnels Nuns at Luncheon”. Brilliantly written, sad, acid, and ironic little stories about the human condition. The stories all concern themselves with some sort of trouble, normally of an amorous nature, and often ending with disappointment.
