Alex Ferguson è nato nel 1941 a Govan, in Scozia. Attaccante molto prolifico, giunse a giocare nei Rangers di Glasgow, squadra per cui tifava sin da bambino, per la cifra record di 65.000 sterline. Diventato allenatore nel 1974, lavorò per l’East Stirlingshire e per il St Mirren, prima di sedere sulla panchina dell’Aberdeen portando il club alla vittoria della Coppa delle Coppe nella stagione 1982-83. Giunto al Manchester United nel 1986, ha vinto trentotto titoli, inclusi un mondiale per club, due Champions League, tredici campionati e cinque fa Cup. Un bottino complessivo di quarantanove trofei fa di lui l’allenatore di maggior successo che il calcio britannico abbia mai avuto. Nominato cavaliere nel 1999, Sir Alex si è ritirato nel 2013, dopo che il Manchester United ha vinto il campionato. All’età di 71 anni, continua a lavorare per lo United come dirigente.
