(Annelies Marie) nacque a Francoforte sul Meno il 12 giugno del 1929, secondogenita di Otto Heinrich Frank ed Edith Hollander, ebrei tedeschi. Arrestata e deportata come il resto della sua famiglia, Anne morirà nel campo di Bergen-Belsen (probabilmente a causa di un’epidemia di tifo) tra il febbraio e il marzo del 1945, a soli quindici anni. Il suo Diario, tradotto in tutto il mondo, è uno dei più autentici e toccanti documenti sulla seconda guerra mondiale che sia giunto fino a noi. Nel 2009 l’Unesco lo ha inserito nel Registro della Memoria del Mondo, dichiarandolo patrimonio dell’umanità.
