ion Fortune (1890-1946), pseudonimo di Violet Mary Firth, ha studiato psicologia e psicanalisi all’Università di Londra, in seguito ha lavorato come psicoterapeuta seguendo dapprima la visione di Sigmund Freud, poi quella per lei più affascinante di Carl Gustav Jung. Da sempre interessata all’esoterismo, entrò nella Società Teosofica e poi, nel 1919, venne iniziata nella società esoterica della Golden Dawn. Sposò il dottor Penry Evans, con il quale collaborò, con un certo successo, in vari metodi di psicoterapia. In seguito il sodalizio perse l’armonia e ne seguì la separazione. Dion Fortune fu prevalentemente una divulgatrice delle idee esoteriche e instancabile promulgatrice di studi; scrisse romanzi, trattati e tenne molteplici conferenze.
