Pseudonimo della scrittrice neozelandese Kathleen Beauchamp, nata a Wellington in Nuova Zelanda nel 1888. Studiò e si trasferì successivamente a Londra, dove visse la maggior parte della sua vita. Esordì con In una pensione tedesca (1911) e il buon successo del libro le permise di conoscere il critico John M. Murry, che sposò nel 1918. Divenne presto una scrittrice affermata, nota per i suoi racconti, ma una grave forma di tubercolosi la costrinse nel 1922 a ritirarsi nell’istituto di Georges Guerdjieff, a Fontainebleau, dove morì nel 1923

Something Childish and Other Stories is a 1924 collection of short stories by the writer Katherine Mansfield. It was first published in America as The Little Girl. This anthology was published after her death by her husband John Middleton Murry. Murry wrote in his introductory note that this volume contains the stories written between Bliss: and Other Stories (1920) and The Garden Party: and Other Stories (1922). The additional stories are the earlier first four stories, plus "Sixpence" (which Mansfield thought sentimental) and "Poison".
