Rafael Sabatini (29 aprile 1875 – 13 febbraio 1950) nacque a Jesi, in Italia, da madre inglese (Anna Trafford) e padre italiano. I suoi genitori erano cantanti d'opera e insegnanti.

Few authors have captured the romance, adventure, and intrigue of history quite like Rafael Sabatini. His swashbuckling tales of daring rogues, noble outlaws, and political intrigue transport readers to a world where courage and wit triumph over tyranny and treachery. The Rafael Sabatini Collection, published by Blackmore Dennett, brings together nine of his finest novels, offering a thrilling journey through duels, revolutions, and high-seas exploits. From courtly intrigues to pirate battles, this anthology is a celebration of adventure at its most exhilarating.     The collection begins with The Tavern Knight, a tale of vengeance and redemption set against the backdrop of England’s Civil War, where a hardened warrior seeks justice for past betrayals. In Bardelys the Magnificent, a charismatic nobleman wagers everything on a dangerous game of deception, love, and honor in Louis XIII’s France. The Trampling of the Lilies explores the French Revolution, where an exiled nobleman turns revolutionary in a gripping tale of justice and revenge, while Mistress Wilding follows an unlikely hero drawn into the failed Monmouth Rebellion, caught between loyalty and destiny.     Sabatini’s gift for historical adventure reaches new heights in The Lion’s Skin, where a man falsely accused of treason must navigate a world of deception and betrayal in the court of Queen Anne. The Sea-Hawk delivers a classic pirate epic, as an English gentleman is betrayed, enslaved, and reborn as a feared corsair. The Snare unfolds against the Napoleonic Wars, blending espionage, romance, and high-stakes adventure.     The legendary Captain Blood introduces one of Sabatini’s most enduring characters—Peter Blood, a wrongfully convicted doctor-turned-pirate who becomes the scourge of the Spanish Main. Rounding out the collection is Scaramouche, perhaps Sabatini’s most famous work, where a young lawyer turned actor becomes a revolutionary, crossing swords with fate itself in a tale of political intrigue, love, and personal transformation.     Brimming with action, wit, and historical drama, The Rafael Sabatini Collection is a must-have for lovers of classic adventure fiction. Sabatini’s tales of romance, rebellion, and heroism continue to captivate readers, proving that the spirit of adventure is timeless.
