William Wall è nato a Cork nel 1955 ed è autore di sei romanzi, tre raccolte di racconti e quattro volumi di poesia. Il suo romanzo This is the Country del 2005 è stato selezionato per il Man Booker Prize. Nel 2017, con la raccolta The Islands, è stato il primo autore europeo ad aggiudicarsi il Drue Heinz Literature Prize, prestigioso premio americano per racconti in lingua inglese. Vive tra l’Irlanda e la Liguria, a Camogli, e traduce dall’italiano. Un’antologia delle sue poesie è stata pubblicata nel 2012 con il titolo Le notizie sono, a cura di Adele D’Arcangelo.
