Presentiamo qui, in una nuova traduzione di Luisa Pecchi, l’ultimo romanzo di Stevenson rimasto incompiuto a causa dell’improvvisa morte, considerato da molti il suo migliore: e la versione che ci è arrivata era solo una “prima” stesura. Qui scopre che il padre di Catriona gli ha teso una trappola per catturare Alan, ma riesce a fuggire portando con sé anche la sua innamorata, che sposerà a Parigi prima di intraprendere il viaggio di ritorno in Scozia.
