L'articolo presenta la figura di un architetto spagnolo poco conosciuto in Italia: Joaquín Vaquero Palacios (1900-1998). Vaquero, oltre a realizzare un'opera architettonica notevole e meritevole della Medaglia d'Oro del Consiglio degli Architetti di Spagna, ottenne grandi riconoscimenti come disegnatore, pittore e scultore. Nominato vicedirettore dell'Academia Española de Bellas Artes di Roma, tra il 1950 e il 1960 Vaquero si stabilì in Italia. Come pittore, il soggiorno italiano gli consentì di approfondire la conoscenza e la frequentazione delle rovine classiche e gli offrì l'occasione di partecipare attivamente a diverse edizioni della Biennale di Venezia e della Triennale di Milano. Come architetto, poté invece realizzare diversi interventi sul patrimonio storico italiano e, da Roma, poté continuare a lavorare alla redazione di molti progetti architettonici da realizzarsi sia in Spagna che in America. | The article introduces a Spanish architect who is relatively unknown, at least in Italy: Joaquín Vaquero Palacios (1900-1998). Vaquero designed an important architecture which was awarded the Gold Medal of the Council of Architects in Spain; he was also renowned as a draughtsman, painter and sculptor. After being named Deputy Director of the Academia Española de Bellas Artes in Rome, between 1950 and 1960 Vaquero moved to Rome. As a painter, his time in Italy allowed him to visit and become familiar with the ruins of antiquity: it was also a chance to actively participate in several editions of the Venice Biennale and the Milan Triennale. As an architect, he worked on several projects involving cultural heritage in Italy and, while in Rome, continued to design many architectural projects in Spain and America.
