Il tema della continuità nella storia italiana del Novecento è stato molto studiato, in particolare sono stati numerosi, e importanti, i lavori dedicati alla transizione dal fascismo alla Repubblica. Sono state relativamente poche invece le ricostruzioni che hanno avuto ad oggetto contesti specifici legati alla grande narrazione di massa, ai mass media e al fertilissimo mondo della canzone e della 'letteratura commerciale. Questo libro raccoglie le biografie di due personaggi, Tito Petralia e Vittorio Emanuele Bravetta, che incarnarono molto bene tale continuità avendo dato un contributo rilevante alla produzione diffusa di stereotipi destinati a passare dall'inizio del Novecento, al fascismo e alla Repubblica e a influenzare l'immaginario del nostro paese.
