Nonostante il termine ‘ecofemminismo’ (dal francese écoféminisme) sia stato coniato solo nel 1974 da Françoise d’Eaubonne, il movimento ecofemminista si propone sin dagli anni ‘60 del secolo scorso di indagare le connessioni esistenti tra il sessismo e altre due forti espressioni del dominio umano: l’abuso delle risorse naturali e la discriminazione degli animali non-umani. I tre fenomeni sono per certi versi visti come così interconnessi (concettualmente, storicamente, socialmente e politicamente), da non potere essere né adeguatamente compresi se non congiuntamente, né affrontati se non in un unico blocco. Ciò che l’ecofemminismo sottolinea è che, in un mondo caratterizzato dalla supremazia maschile, donne, ambiente e animali non-umani appartengono a categorie profondamente affini, considerate infatti per secoli come ‘proprietà animate’ o ‘beni mobili’ del tutto analoghi. Per affrontare la questione ambientale e quella animale non è dunque sufficiente riposizionare la vita umana in termini naturali e la natura in termini etici. Ciò che occorre è smascherare le premesse stesse dell’oppressione e, una volta superata ogni forma di dualismo gerarchizzante, promuovere una visione relazionale della realtà capace di supportare, anche tramite espedienti tipici della narrativa, un’etica simpatetica da affiancare a quella più tradizionale. È essenzialmente con questo obiettivo che l’etica ecofemminista si mette in dialogo con quella ambientale: portare a compimento l’esigenza, sorta verso la fine del secolo scorso, di elaborare una morale intergenerazionale e interspecifica che non si limiti a gloriarsi del fatto di apparire, seppure utopica, logicamente supportabile, ma che sia effettivamente praticabile, e quindi anche tutt’altro che irraggiungibile.

Why is there a need today for a new discipline such as neuromanagement? The volume deals with the theme of the applications of neuroscience to organizational contexts evaluating the current impact, the potential for future developments, as well as the critical issues related to neuroscientific paradigms and investigation techniques typical of the neuroscience domain. The first section of the book focuses on the “neuroscientific mindset” for changing, considering, between the other, how leadership can be discovered and empowered by a neuroscientific approach; the neurophysiological components of motivation involved in the pleasure of working and committing for social rewards, positive reinforces, and learning; the practical applications to promote change in the company; how neuromanagement allows us to evaluate and enhance individuals’ executive functions through neuroassessment protocols. The second section suggests well-being and safety as economic leverages, dealing with the issues of promoting trust, managing stress, and applying novel neuroscientific techniques for neuroenhancement. The third section is entitled technology and innovative homo sapiens and describes two main themes: big data application in the company and their possible intersection with the neuroscientific field; moral decision-making processes, able to have an impact on the whole organization and its single members. Or, in other words, this book explores how to discover human beings in organizations through their brains.
