La natura del ‘continuo’ è un problema di singolare profondità del quale si sono occupati filosofi e matematici per più di due millenni. Il problema è astratto ma riguarda situazioni concrete e probabilmente è connesso con la natura profonda dell’operatività della mente umana. L’autore giunge alla conclusione che il continuo non è rinvenibile in ciò che esiste, ma consiste nella sintesi tra ciò che esiste e le sue potenzialità non manifestate, utilizzando esempi concreti ed astratti.
