I ghiacci artici si stanno riducendo? Falso. Il numero dei morti a causa dei disastri naturali è in crescita? Falso. I dati indicano un aumento dei fenomeni estremi? Falso. Le previsioni annunciano una qualche catastrofe planetaria nel prossimo futuro? Falso. Alla base di queste idee errate, e molto diffuse, vi è un utilizzo arbitrario e strumentale della scienza da parte della propaganda green, che punta il dito contro l'uomo occidentale e il suo modello di sviluppo, presunti colpevoli del cambiamento climatico. Nicola Porro raccoglie le ricerche di alcuni autorevoli specialisti (fisici, geologi, climatologi, meteorologi ma anche economisti e ingegneri) mostrando che non c'è alcun unanimismo tra gli esperti attorno al cambiamento climatico, soprattutto sul ruolo e sull'influenza dell'uomo. Da protagonista della comunicazione, l'autore sottolinea che la questione è ormai passata nelle mani dei media rendendo impossibile combattere, con metodo scientifico, una narrazione che si è imposta da un lato come una sorta di fede ecologista, e dall'altro come il maggiore interesse economico e politico del nostro tempo: il green. Questo libro era atteso perché dà finalmente voce a quegli scienziati, e ai loro studi, troppo spesso silenziati in un dibattito pubblico dominato da un'opinione unica che, invece di ragionare sui dati, pretende un consenso totale che ha a che fare più con i dogmi religiosi che non con la realtà dei fatti.
