Ferdinand Hodler: paintings. E-book. Formato Mobipocket Mildred Ferguson - Mildred Ferguson, 2015 -
Ferdinand Hodler was famous Swiss painters of the 19th century. He developed a style which he called "Parallelism", characterized by groupings of figures symmetrically arranged in poses suggesting ritual or dance. Hodler's work in his final phase took on an expressionist aspect with strongly coloured and geometrical figures. Landscapes were pared down to essentials, sometimes consisting of a jagged wedge of land between water and sky. These mystical, non-realistic paintings depicting an escape from the bourgeois cares of modern life gained Hodler first notoriety and then popularity.
Egon Schiele paintings. E-book. Formato Mobipocket Mildred Ferguson - Mildred Ferguson, 2015 -
With his signature graphic style, embrace of figural distortion, and bold defiance of conventional norms of beauty, Egon Schiele was one of the leading figures of Austrian Expressionism. Schiele's symbolic works, such as "Death and the Maiden," "The Hermits," or even such seemingly content themes as "Mother with Two Children" show the same penetrating insight for which his portraits have become famous. The extraordinary ability to form the three dimensional body through dominating contour lines, his choice of very strong and forthright colors, the frequently ambiguous spaces, and his extraordinary sensitivity, which transforms even a seemingly quick drawing into a complete work of art, have allowed Schiele's fame to continue to grow.
