Nacque nel 1885 a Eastwood. Figura tra le più emblematiche della letteratura inglese del Novecento, con James Joyce e Virginia Woolf fu uno dei grandi innovatori della narrativa anglosassone, soprattutto per le tematiche affrontate. Autore di raccolte poetiche, libri di viaggio e romanzi, tra cui Il pavone bianco (1911), Figli e amanti (1913), Donne innamorate (1920), La verga d’Aronne (1922) e L’amante di Lady Chatterley (1928), fu anche il traduttore inglese di Verga. Morì nel 1930 a Vence. Delle sue opere Elliot ha pubblicato i romanzi La ragazza perduta (2014), Il trasgressore (2015), L’arcobaleno (2015) e la raccolta di racconti Sotto il sole d’Italia (2014).
