Cabbages and Kings. E-book. Formato Mobipocket O. Henry   -  Midwest Journal Press, 2017  -

A series of stories which each explore some individual aspect of life in a paralytically sleepy Central American town while each advancing some aspect of the larger plot and relating back one to another in a complex structure which slowly explicates its own background even as it painstakingly erects a town which is one of the most detailed literary creations of the period. In this book, O. Henry coined the term "banana republic".Set in a fictitious Central American country called the Republic of Anchuria, this is a classic tale that has been loved by many for generations, a great addition to the collection.William Sydney Porter (September 11, 1862 - June 5, 1910), known by his pen name O. Henry, was an American short story writer. O. Henry's short stories are known for their surprise endings. He was born in Greensboro, North Carolina. He changed the spelling of his middle name to Sydney in 1898.PROEM (excerpt)They will tell you in Anchuria, that President Miraflores, of that volatile republic, died by his own hand in the coast town of Coralio; that he had reached thus far in flight from the inconveniences of an imminent revolution; and that one hundred thousand dollars, government funds, which he carried with him in an American leather valise as a souvenir of his tempestuous administration, was never afterward recovered...It is characteristic of this buoyant people that they pursue no man beyond the grave. "Let God be his judge!"—Even with the hundred thousand unfound, though greatly coveted, the hue and cry went no further than that.To the stranger or the guest the people of Coralio will relate the story of the tragic end of their former president; how he strove to escape from the country with the public funds and also with Doña Isabel Guilbert, the young American opera singer; and how, being apprehended by members of the opposing political party in Coralio, he shot himself through the head rather than give up the funds, and, in consequence, the Señorita Guilbert. They will relate further that Doña Isabel, her adventurous bark of fortune shoaled by the simultaneous loss of her distinguished admirer and the souvenir hundred thousand, dropped anchor on this stagnant coast, awaiting a rising tide. They say, in Coralio, that she found a prompt and prosperous tide in the form of Frank Goodwin, an American resident of the town, an investor who had grown wealthy by dealing in the products of the country—a banana king, a rubber prince, a sarsaparilla, indigo, and mahogany baron...

Covfefe - The Secret Origins. E-book. Formato Mobipocket Robert Worstell   -  Midwest Journal Press, 2017  -

The Reason for This Book The mystery of Covfefe was first hinted in a late-night tweet by our President, “Despite the constant negative press covfefe...” 2:06 a.m., from @realDonaldTrump What did this mean? The twitter lines burned. News media, formerly consumed with generating fake news for both right and left, now was devoted to finding and exposing the mystery of this sentence fragment. For my own reasons, I delved into the original translations of the top 100 literary works (on Gutenberg.org) that we have always looked to for diversion and inspiration in times of trouble. Here the source of this word and its permutations were found. No longer do you have to cast about for meaning to these seven letters. The secret origins and meanings of “confefe” have now been collated and assembled into a ready reference for your education. Now you can rest assured that all the world from here forward will know and understand the value of Covfefe in our lives and the effect on our political climate forever. Perhaps no other word has united this country – for a moment – in humble non-understanding. And that silence was deafening, for a second. After that, we got back to partisan squabbling and fake news as usual. But it was fun while it lasted. Scroll Up and Get Your Copy Now.

Choose. Believe. Win.How to Achieve Your Goals, Realize Your Dreams, and Get Everything You Want Out of Life. E-book. Formato Mobipocket Dr. Robert C. Worstell   -  Midwest Journal Press, 2017  -

What is Winning? The Secret That May Surprise YouThis seems rather obvious, but it isn't necessarily. What you consider "winning" will depend on how you've been trained since birth and the mindset you've stacked as a result. Before we get into the more serious nuts and bolts of how this works, let's go over a very simple datum: nothing is as it seems at first glance.Look at a race. Thousands enter a marathon. Only one is first. He's the winner. What are the rest called? Also-rans.Olympics are different. They have thousands who compete worldwide, and only their best national winners are sent to the world competition. There, they compete against each other in various challenges until the final point where awards are given only to the first three winners. We call them winners and they may get a cash prize, but who is making the real money from their success? The sponsors.Back to that marathon. Who is the big winner? The race sponsors. The people who sell supplies to the runners. The people who have hotel rooms for rent to visitors. The people who create and market collectibles to the visitors. The restaurants that supply food to all these people. Those are all winners, too.In the Olympics, certain sports are in big demand by the viewing and reading audiences. So the corporate media can be winners if they can get the exclusive contract for the broadcasting and can then sell enough advertising to cover their expenses. (Doesn't always happen.) And the Olympics aren't always profitable themselves.Winning is what you say it is. But all winning has also-rans who were there as well as the crowd who watched. What was the difference? Mindset. Those competitors who came in first are those who had a certain mindset to succeed. They are exceptional successes, whether or not they set a new world's record. The people who made a sizable increase in income from any sporting event are exceptional successes, too. If they didn't take the risk, they wouldn't have made that extra income. That also takes a certain mindset. It's no coincidence that the majority of the richest people on this planet either didn't finish college, never went, or attended something other than an Ivy League university. They think differently, they have stacked their mindset differently. They have become routinely exceptional successes.(From Chapter 1)If you want routine exceptional success in your life, you're going to have to know how to choose, believe, and win.Get Your Copy Now.
