By approaching workplace performance from the perspective of the theatre, my previous books2 have attempted to illustrate the connection between work and the world of drama and dramatic texts. Here now the emphasis is on performance at work, borrowing in many instances, as we shall see, from the theatre for the sake of satisfying an audience comprised of our stakeholders. That we are all performing at any moment is a noted idea. With the increasing presence of surveillance cameras in many towns and cities today, we are indeed almost continually in the spotlight. That said, personal performance in this book relates to our intentional actions as opposed to activities merely performed as habits or reactions to stimuli deriving from external sources. Focusing on performance, potential and the workplace, certain ideas were originally produced as material for my personal blog3 over the period June 2013-June 2014. Excerpted from the Introduction

The current period of significant and relatively long-term social changes in the Slovak Republic brings the expected positives, but also negative consequences, especially in the social and socio-economic, or in the value area, of the life of an individual, but also for the whole of society.The knowledge of social reality is one of the important prerequisites for its influence, therefore, we present a partial section of the results of research work by doctoral students from the Slovak Republic and Poland, who study at the Faculty of Education at the Catholic University, in Ružomberok.We support thus their enthusiasm for scientific work, but also the eminent interest to take control of the tools of scientific research.In the first part of the publication, the studies are devoted to the socio-educational care for a child in foster care, the caring of a child with severe disabilities and the connection between dysfunctional families and the relationship of the current young generation towards parenthood and towards the family.The second part is devoted to poverty, its common cause, unemployment and some aspects of the social services in the Slovak environment and in a European context.The third part consists of externally thematically unrelated studies, which are focused on the behaviour of secondary school students in terms of environmental ethics, on the social work with people engaged in prostitution, on corporate social responsibility, but also on the training of social workers, in Poland. However, they have a common denominator and thus scope for the application of the presented knowledge, in the theoretical and also the practical field of social work.The variety in the quality of the individual articles, is directly proportional to the length of the individual research carried out by the doctoral students. For all that, we show our joy from their work, we express our gratitude to all the authors for the willingness and courage to have their “skin in the game” and we wish them a lot of successful research and work experience.Tratto dall'Introduzione

Il laboratorio di analisi delle fonti storico-archivistiche per l’età moderna dell’Università Cattolica di Milano ha inteso fornire in questi anni di attivazione un bagaglio di competenze e risorse utili all’analisi storica, compiuta essenzialmente su una peculiare tipologia di fonte di indagine: il documento d’archivio.Rivolto agli studenti di archivistica e delle varie discipline storiche, il laboratorio si è articolato attraverso la lettura e l’analisi di fascicoli documentari normalmente rintracciabili in archivi storici pubblici, in specifico in alcuni archivi degli enti assistenziali milanesi.Come è ormai abbastanza noto, in ambito milanese gli archivi di questi enti subirono una riorganizzazione in epoca illuministica, proseguita successivamente in periodo napoleonico[1].I loro titolari, gli strumenti essenziali per capirne la struttura e la formazione delle rubriche principali e dei titoli (ossia serie e sottoserie), risultano ancora oggi simili fra loro, a seguito di un fatto squisitamente archivistico, ovvero di una generale risistemazione effettuata in un preciso periodo storico, allorquando quasi tutti gli archivi degli enti assistenziali e ospedalieri milanesi vennero trasferiti alla sede della neonata Congregazione di carità, situata a partire dal 1808 negli uffici dell’Ospedale Maggiore.Delle particolari vicende archivistiche subite da questi enti si parlerà poco più avanti; qui preme invece osservare come la comprensione delle possibilità che la ricerca archivistica condotta nei fondi di questi particolari enti offre, passa anche dall’esame dei titolari, per meglio comprendere l’articolazione amministrativa degli enti produttori e, conseguentemente, la tipologia documentaria presente nelle rubriche e nei titoli, per arrivare quindi alla consultazione degli inventari e infine all’analisi dei fascicoli.In particolare è stato preso in considerazione un archivio, quello dell’Orfanotrofio maschile dei Martinitt e sono stati esaminati il titolario e l’inventario di questo secolare ente benefico ambrosiano, del quale è utile, per una migliore comprensione dei documenti d’archivio, cercare di conoscerne la storia istituzionale e la storia archivistica.
