Cos'è questa tanto controversa "decima"? Abramo fu il primo a stabilire questa misura per l'offerta, per il suo contributo all'opera di Dio. Dopo di lui Giacobbe fa un giuramento a Dio: "Di tutto quello che tu mi darai, io certamente ti darò la decima" (Genesi 28:22). Sono trascorsi quasi quattromila anni ma la polemica su questo argomento (decima si, decima no) non si è risolta a favore di sostenitori o detrattori. Si sono risolte controversie trinitarie, si è concordato il Canone delle Scritture, ma la semplice definizione di un principio che regoli la nostra offerta al Signore sembra quasi una questione irrisolvibile. In questo libro cerco di parlarne in toni distesi, ma scritturali, alla luce della libertà che è propria di noi che abbiamo creduto in Cristo e siamo condotti dallo Spirito Santo.

One striking example of the Jewish imprint on the Greek New Testament is the circumlocution of the Divine Name. The Jewish authors, reverent of the Tetragram, never wrote it explicitly in Greek, even when translating or quoting Hebrew Scripture. Instead, they often used Kyrios (Lord) or other titles, preserving a subtle layer of Jewish tradition within the Greek text. This practice reflects both linguistic and theological consciousness: it shows that the authors were fluent in Greek yet shaped their writing according to Hebrew norms and religious sensitivities. Such traces are evidence not only of the Jewish origin of the texts but also of their historical reliability: the apostles and early Christian authors were carefully transmitting the Jewish understanding of God, even while addressing a broader Greek-speaking audience. By examining these patterns, one sees that the New Testament carries within its language the echoes of Hebrew thought and worship, affirming the continuity between the Old Covenant and the testimony of Christ.

Uno dei passi profetici più significativi della Scrittura è il Discorso sul Monte degli Ulivi. In esso, Gesù stesso preannuncia la distruzione del Secondo Tempio, che sarebbe avvenuta pochi anni dopo la Sua morte. Egli profetizza anche sugli ultimi giorni e sull'ascesa di forze malvagie che porteranno infine alla manifestazione dell'Anticristo. Gesù richiama il profeta Daniele e conferma che il Figlio dell'Uomo (Daniele 7) presto apparirà, raccoglierà il Suo popolo e stabilirà il Suo regno. Si menziona il raduno di Israele nella sua terra, così come il rapimento della Chiesa. L'ammonimento è inequivocabile: Vegliate! Tenete le vostre lampade piene d'olio. Usate i talenti che Dio vi ha dato. Siate pronti per il Re che viene.
