The third millennium, characterized by the epochal challenges of digital and ecological transformations, necessitates a reflection on the implications for human rights. In the 'Human Rights and Environment' section, some PhD students analyze and compare the factors contributing to climate change, examine its effects, and discuss solutions that have been developed to prevent or mitigate its progression. In the 'Human Rights and Technology' section, some PhD students explore the transformations that the use of new technologies is expected to bring about, which require a reinterpretation of traditional human rights and domestically protected interests. The issue of discrimination runs transversally through all areas of law, and in the light of the approaches adopted by jurisdictional bodies, we thus need to assess how the rights of the individual are ensured, pro-tected and above all promoted.The papers collected here deal with the theoretical and practical legal issues involved in reconciling domestic and supranational legal systems and judicial decisions. They also de facto deal with the related linguistic difficulties of commenting on Italian legislation and case law in Engli-sh, whose legal terminology and discourse are rooted in a legal system displaying at times significant differences to that of Italy. These papers are, then, also attempts to engage with and resolve the conflicts such differences may engender.This book collects reflections by doctoral students in Law at the Univer-sity of Messina Department of Law (34 th, 35th and 36 th PhD program-mes), on discrimination issues which have been analysed or resolved by supranational case law.
