Il linguaggio e la realtà. La narrativa modernista di Virginia Woolf e James Joyce Federici Annalisa   -  Morlacchi, 2011  - 

L'attenzione alla questione fondamentale della forma, del linguaggio e dell'autoriflessività del testo narrativo accomuna i protagonisti della scena letteraria di inizio Novecento e in particolar modo le figure di Virginia Woolf e James Joyce, per cui la centralità della rappresentazione è tale che le loro opere possono essere viste come modelli conoscitivi e rappresentativi del reale, come strutture mimetiche che testualizzano il processo compositivo da cui scaturiscono riproducendone i passaggi attraverso particolari artifici formali, i quali costituiscono al tempo stesso peculiarità stilistiche del soggetto creante e la risposta al tentativo di considerare il romanzo come strumento di indagine sul mondo esterno. Per entrambi gli autori la scrittura narrativa diviene una costruzione linguistica che manifesta la visione del mondo - e del prodotto artistico che di esso costituisce un riflesso - propria di ciascuno, essendo la loro peculiare percezione della realtà componente imprescindibile della narrazione.

Bringing together a community of Woolf scholars from across Europe, the essays in the present volume explore new persectives on Woolf's work for the early twenty-first century. In so doing they espouse that conceptual movement implicit in the title Trans-Woolf which runs rhizomatically through Woolf's oeuvre. Thinking Woolf through other languages: French, Italian, Spanish, and other media: music, early photography, cartoon-strip, they address questions of translational ethics, the intra-scriptural, the trans-medial, the transference, transmission, transfixation and transgression. From the transparency and depth of her poetics, her ear for the other side of language exposed in translation, to the counter-nationalist, counter-individualist dynamic at the heart of her politics, Woolf's own lifelong concern with thinking outside and against entrenched figures or territories of authority here intersects with the translator's task of navigating outside familiar mappings, crossing borders, thereby imagining those forms of survival and foreign afterlives for which her work yearns.
