Program and Material for South Carolina Day. E-book. Formato PDF. In accordance with an Act of the General Assembly, approved the 17th day of February, A. D. 1906, and herewith incorporated, I am sending you suggestive program and material for the celebration of South Caro lina Day in the public schools. You will notice that this pamphlet contains material which is not in the suggestive program. This is done in order to allow as much variety as possible. Some teachers may desire to include in their programs other selections which are not contained' herein. Of course this will be all right. It is hoped that the celebration of this day will cause the people of South Carolina «to study and appreciate more generally the history and the resources of this great State. We certainly have not, in the past, given due attention to these matters. If this program. Is carried out as the law provides, great benefit will accrue to the people of the State. Allow me to suggest that, in addition to carrying out a program to which the patrons of the schools may be invited, you also provide for the raising of sufficient funds on that occasion to purchase for your school rooms copies of pictures of Calhoun and Hampton. I have arranged with W. A. Reckling Sons, Columbia, S. C., to furnish to such schools as may desire them, pictures 16x20 inches, nicely framed, at $2 apiece, of these two great men. If the children raise money for these pictures and have them put in the school rooms, I think that such work will, in itself, have a fine in?uence.
