Ediz. tedesca, inglese e italiana: "Der Schriftgiesser" ("Il fonditore di caratteri") è una descrizione della fusione dei caratteri da stampa inclusa nella "Werkstäte der heutigen Künste oder die neue Kunsthistorie", una sorta di enciclopedia dei mestieri, originariamente pubblicata a Lipsia tra il 1761 e il 1779. L'autore, Johann Samuel Halle (1727-1810), era un accademico e funzionario prussiano. La sua descrizione del processo di produzione dei caratteri è probabilmente il primo testo dettagliato sull'argomento scritto in tedesco da un autore che non era né uno stampatore né un imprenditore del settore. "Der Schriftgiesser" ("The Character Sinter") is a description of the fusion of print characters included in the "Werkstate der heutigen Kénste oder die neue Kunsthistorie", a kind of encyclopedia of trades, originally published in Leipzig 1761 and 1779. The author, Johann Samuel Halle (1727-1810), was a Prussian academic and official. His description of the process of producing the characters is probably the first detailed text on the subject written in German by an author who was neither a printer nor an entrepreneur in the field. In 1992, the Wilhelm Woellmer foundry in Berlin republished the lyrics of "Der Schriftgiesser" as a memoir of the annual meeting of German printing foundries. Thanks to Dan Reynolds, we now have Halle's texts translated into English. The excerpt is accompanied by the only comment on its content ever published in any language.
