Ed egli lottò contro pesanti avversità, sacrificando i quattro figli e migliaia di seguaci per quello che credeva fosse un dharma yug: una battaglia per il bene. Tutto ciò per cui i Sikh sono nati, il loro valore in battaglia, il loro spirito di iniziativa, il loro cameratismo e il loro amore per la vita, lo devono a quest'uomo: Gobind Singh. Se le tradizioni inaugurate del Guru sono destinate a scomparire, è indubbio che morirà con loro anche la comunità Sikh. Questa, costituisce di per sé una ragione sufficiente a riesaminare la vita e gli insegnamenti del Guru".

And that little information that is commonly known, very often reports a distorted version of reality. "From any point of view you look at it," writes Khushwant Singh, author of this excellent biography, unpublished in Italy, Guru Gobind was one of the most extraordinary men of all time. He had the gift of poetry, he was a brave and fearless warrior and an idealist convinced that it was necessary to fight for one's ideals. And he fought against heavy adversity, sacrificing his four sons and thousands of followers for what he believed was a yug dharma: a battle for good. Everything the Sikhs were born for, their value in battle, their spirit of initiative, their camaraderie and their love of life, owe it to this man: Gobind Singh. If the inaugural traditions of the Guru are destined to disappear, there is no doubt that the Sikh community will also die with them. This in itself is reason enough to re-examine the life and teachings of the Guru."
